In Japan, there is a tradition called ateji (当て字) – the use of kanji not for their literal meaning, but for their sound and the symbolic meaning they can convey.
This is how a Japanese calligrapher wrote my name “Ștefan Badea” in kanji:
捨不安 (Sha-fuan) → “Ștefan”
捨 = to discard, to let go
不安 = anxiety, fear
➝ Meaning: “The one who lets go of anxiety.”
場出逢 (Ba-dea) → “Badea”
場 = place, space
出逢 = encounter, destiny
➝ Meaning: “The place where destiny meets.”
📌 Final interpretation:
✨ “The one who leaves fear behind and becomes the place where destiny meets.” ✨
